I recently took my 1990 Chevy 3/4 ton pickup to sears automotive in Antioch, TN for a water leak and a battery check. From the beginning they seemed more interested in selling me a battery than taking care of the water leak. I selected the battery I wanted and talked to the service person about the water leak. I told him the drip was from the lower radiator hose but wasn't sure where it was coming from but suggested it might be the water pump. When I picked the truck up about 3 hours later I was told the water leak was fixed. When I asked what the problem was the lady said "Oh he used his magic." When I got home the water was no longer driping, it was poring. Not only did the majic not fix the leak but caused another leak. For some reason they had cut off the heater hose, re-attached it, and failed to tighten the clamp tight enough. Since they didn't charge me very much I let it pass. It took me about two minutes to correct the problem with the heater hose. I also replaced the water pump and thermostat myself correcting the leaking problem.
I'm 70 years old and and have been a Sears customer for years. Sears was one of the most dependable places to take a car for rutine service, Tires, mufflers, and such. It is so sad they have declined so much. Could the buy out by Kmart be the cause. I noticed all the older workers are gone and mose of the staff are very young and seemingly inexperienced. It is very sad. |
